Chapter 18 - The Evidence Unveiled

Vance didn't miss a beat. He walked over to the court clerk, handing over the Zurich safety deposit box documents, the original birth certificates, and the payoff ledger signed by Margaret herself.
"Thirty-nine years ago," Vance continued, pacing slowly in front of the judge's bench, "the defendant, Margaret Harrison, systematically erased her half-sister, Clara, from the public record to seize control of an estate worth tens of millions of dollars. She didn't just disinherit a rival; she fabricated legal documents, bribed a sitting probate judge, and cast Clara’s infant daughter—the true primary heir—into poverty."
Margaret’s attorney turned frantically toward his client, whispering something in her ear. Margaret’s face went chalk white. She gripped the edge of the wooden bench so hard her knuckles turned translucent.
"Furthermore, Your Honor," Vance pressed on, raising his voice to cut off any interruption, "over the past forty-eight hours, the defendant has attempted to bypass federal oversight by executing an unauthorized liquidation of the remaining estate into an overseas shell corporation located in the Cayman Islands—a clear, deliberate attempt to obstruct justice and flee the jurisdiction of this court."
Vance turned and pointed directly at Margaret. "We have the bank transfer receipts. We have the wire routing numbers. And most importantly, we have the legal lineage proving beyond a shadow of a doubt that the rightful owner of the Harrison estate is not Margaret Harrison, but the direct descendant of Clara Harrison—sitting right there in the gallery: Claire Harrison-Miller."
The courtroom erupted into a low murmur of shock. Spectators and junior lawyers craned their necks to look at me. Andrew reached over, squeezing my hand so hard it hurt, but I didn't care. I sat upright, my gaze locked onto Margaret’s terrified, trembling eyes.
Judge Henderson slammed his gavel down once. The sharp crack silenced the room instantly.
"Counsel for the defense," Judge Henderson said, his voice dropping into a dangerous, glacial register. "Do you have any explanation as to why your client attempted an offshore asset transfer forty-eight hours after a motion for estate review was filed?"
Margaret’s lawyer stammered, looking frantically through his papers. "Your... Your Honor, we require time to review these sudden—"
"You have no time," Judge Henderson interrupted coldly. "Based on the physical evidence presented, the court finds probable cause of systemic fraud and intentional concealment of lineage."

He picked up his heavy black pen, signing his name with three sharp, decisive strokes.
"Effective immediately," Judge Henderson declared, looking straight at Margaret, "all assets, properties, trust accounts, and corporate holdings under the control of Margaret Harrison are frozen indefinitely. A federal receiver is hereby appointed to oversee the complete forensic audit of the estate, and title transference to the rightful primary lineage—represented by Claire Harrison-Miller—will begin immediately. Court is adjourned."
