Chapter 14 - The Anatomy of Desperation

Arthur Jr. sneered, his lower lip trembling as he thrust the bulging manila folder toward my chest. "Read it, you ungrateful gold-digger! Every single page proves that your initial seed funding three years ago came from a shell company tied to the Sterling enterprise. That means the core algorithms belong to *us*. The courts will invalidate every merger, every contract, every share you own!"

The camera operators leaned in closer, their lenses zooming in on my face, hunting for any sign of panic, guilt, or fear. They wanted a scandal. They wanted blood.

Instead, I smiled—a calm, pitying smile that cut deeper than any insult he could have hurled.

"Arthur," I said, my voice echoing clearly through the lobby's acoustics. "Do you even know what is inside that folder?"

His triumphant grin faltered for a fraction of a second. "It’s... it’s the audit report! The forensic accounting of your early assets!"

"No," I replied smoothly, turning my head slightly to look directly into the primary news camera. "It’s a collection of unsigned, unverified draft documents from a shell company that your mother established four years ago to illegally siphon offshore capital away from municipal tax authorities. In fact, if any federal investigator were to open that exact folder, they wouldn't find a copyright claim on my algorithms—they would find a clear, documented paper trail of corporate tax evasion orchestrated by Margaret Sterling and signed off by your own junior executive clearance code."

Arthur Jr. went completely white. The color drained from his face so fast it looked like someone had turned off a light switch. His hands began to shake violently, the manila folder slipping from his fingers and scattering loose papers across the polished black granite floor.

"That's... that's a lie," he stammered, dropping to his knees with a pathetic thud, frantically gathering random pages as if he could hide the evidence from the world. "You're lying! You ruined us! You ruined *me*!"

"You ruined yourself the moment you handed me a glass of red wine and told me to pay for my 'poor blood'," I said, looking down at him not with anger, but with absolute, cold indifference. "You thought wealth was something you inherited. You thought power was something handed to you by your mother's last name. You never understood that real power is earned in the dark, through sleepless nights, unyielding discipline, and the absolute refusal to break when people like you try to crush us."

Julian stepped forward, his voice low and dangerous. "Vance, escort Mr. Sterling off the premises. If he steps foot within five hundred yards of this building again, have him arrested for trespassing and harassment."

"Right away, sir," Vance said, his massive frame looming over the kneeling, weeping man.

As two security guards lifted Arthur Jr. up by his arms—his legs dragging limply across the floor as he sobbed incoherently—the camera operators captured every single second of his absolute humiliation. Within minutes, that footage would be uploaded to every financial news outlet, Twitter thread, and corporate gossip blog from Wall Street to Silicon Valley.

Arthur Sterling stepped out from the shadows, looking down at his son with a face carved from stone. He didn't say a word. He didn't offer a hand. He simply turned his back, walked over to the elevator, and pressed the button.

The Sterling dynasty wasn't just defeated; it was entirely erased.
