Chapter 15 - The Counter-Strike at Dawn

The first light of dawn painted the Arizona desert in breathtaking shades of violet, rose, and brilliant gold. Inside the command center of the Vance estate, the atmosphere crackled with quiet, disciplined tension. Harrison Vance sat at the head of the conference table, his formidable presence radiating absolute command, while Mason and Lucas synchronized high-frequency secure data streams across three massive wall monitors.
Standing before the central console was Seraphina. Her blazer was buttoned to the top, her posture commanding, and her expression a masterpiece of cold, strategic brilliance.
On the main monitor, a live, encrypted video feed connected directly to the private executive boardroom of Meridian Capital in downtown Phoenix. It was 6:00 AM local time, and Julian Vance was sitting at the head of his glass table, nursing a cup of black coffee, impatiently awaiting the confirmation ping from Brandon’s underground relay device.
Instead of a silent ping, his secure terminal chimed with an incoming priority encrypted video call from an unlisted Arizona estate IP address.
Julian frowned, a smug, anticipatory smile spreading across his lips as he reached forward and accepted the transmission.
The screen flickered, and instead of Brandon Miller’s pathetic, sweat-stained face, the high-definition camera revealed the grand, sunlit expanse of the Vance estate library. Seated at the center of the frame, flanked by Harrison Vance, Mason, and Lucas, was Seraphina.
Julian’s coffee cup froze halfway to his mouth. The smug smile vanished instantly, replaced by a cold, calculating mask of shock.
"Good morning, Cousin Julian," Seraphina’s voice rang out through the boardroom speakers—crystal clear, completely steady, and carrying the crushing weight of absolute dominance. "I believe you were expecting a different guest this morning."
Julian recovered quickly, forcing a tight, condescending chuckle as he leaned back in his leather executive chair. "Seraphina. I must admit, I wasn't expecting the domestic division of our family to branch out into corporate intelligence. To what do I owe the early morning call?"
Seraphina didn't smile. She leaned forward, resting her hands flat on the polished mahogany desk, her clear, bright eyes locking onto Julian through the camera lens with terrifying intensity.
"You tried to infiltrate my home using a broken man, Julian," Seraphina said, her voice chillingly calm. "You assumed that because I was raising newborn daughters, I was isolated, distracted, and vulnerable. You assumed that my father's empire was rotting from the inside out."
With a subtle nod from Seraphina, Lucas tapped a key on his console, instantly transmitting a dense packet of forensic financial data straight to Julian’s terminal.
On Meridian Capital’s main screen, a harsh red warning banner flashed across the display: *Incoming Asset Seizure, SEC Compliance Audit, and Criminal Indictment for Corporate Espionage.*
"As of thirty seconds ago," Seraphina continued, her voice unwavering, "Vance Holdings has acquired controlling interest in the primary debt instruments backing Meridian Capital’s regional portfolio. Your corporate accounts are frozen, your shell companies have been unmasked, and federal investigators are currently securing your downtown offices."
Julian’s face drained of all color. The cup slipped from his fingers, shattering against the glass table as dark coffee pooled across the confidential documents.
"You... you can't do that," Julian stammered, his composure completely disintegrating. "That's an aggressive hostile maneuver—the board will never—"
"The board doesn't exist anymore, Julian," Seraphina interrupted quietly. "You played a game of absolute control, and you lost everything. Welcome to the real world."
Seraphina reached forward and tapped the disconnect button, plunging the Meridian Capital boardroom into permanent darkness.

Back in the estate library, the room fell into a profound, golden silence. Harrison Vance looked at his daughter with unmitigated pride, a warm smile touching his lips. Mason and Lucas raised their coffee mugs in a silent, respectful toast.
Seraphina turned away from the monitors, walking over to the tall arched window as the morning sun burst fully over the desert horizon, bathing the sprawling estate in an aura of limitless power and golden triumph. The second refrigerator was gone, the manipulative shadows were banished, and the horizon of salt and gold stretched out endlessly before her—because Seraphina Vance wasn't just surviving her new life; she was ruling it.
