Chapter 26 - THE PREPARATION FOR THE STRIKE

The rest of the day and deep into the night blurred together in a frenzy of high-stakes digital preparation. Arthur’s legal team, a formidable group of corporate turnaround specialists operating out of Boston, worked seamlessly with my custom software scripts to ensure that the encrypted payload was ready to deploy the exact second Vance took the podium at the gala. We tested the network override protocols three times, routing the data through a series of decentralized proxy servers in Iceland and Switzerland to prevent any local IT security team from blocking the broadcast. While I worked on the code, Leo sat at the kitchen counter eating a bowl of cereal, entirely safe and happy, oblivious to the fact that his father and grandfather were about to face the ultimate reckoning. I walked over and ruffled his messy brown hair. "Everything okay, Uncle Julian?" he asked, looking up with those wide, innocent eyes. "More than okay, buddy," I whispered, kissing the top of his head. "Tomorrow, we’re going to make sure nobody ever messes with our family again." As night fell outside, the tension in the house was palpable, thick with the electric anticipation of an impending storm. Arthur sat by the fireplace in the study, staring into the flickering flames with a quiet, reflective look on his face. "Your grandfather would have hated you, Julian," Arthur said softly without turning around. "And that is the highest compliment I could ever pay a man." I nodded in agreement, knowing that our targets—Vance, my father, and the rest of the arrogant clan—were currently sleeping soundly in their sprawling suburban mansions, completely unaware that their entire fabricated empire was about to collapse like a house of cards built on sand.
