Chapter 10 - A New Dawn

Six months later, the private gardens of the DeLuca estate on the shores of Lake Michigan were bathed in golden afternoon sunlight. White roses climbed the wrought-iron trellises, and string lights arched overhead, casting a magical glow over the elegant gathering of close friends, trusted business associates, and family.
Emily stood before the full-length mirror in the bridal suite, adjusting the cascading lace train of her custom-designed wedding gown. She looked radiant, her confidence shining from within, her fuller figure celebrated and adored in every graceful curve of the silk.
The door opened softly, and her mother walked in, wiping a happy tear from her eye. "Oh, my darling," her mother whispered, kissing Emily’s cheek. "You look like an absolute dream. Vincent is the luckiest man in the world."
"No, Mom," Emily smiled, adjusting her veil. "I’m the lucky one."
Ten minutes later, the processional music swelled. As Emily walked down the garden aisle on her mother's arm, the assembled guests turned in breathless admiration. But Emily only had eyes for the man standing at the altar.
Vincent stood waiting in a classic black tuxedo, his dark eyes shining with an emotion he reserved for her alone. When she reached his side, he took her hands in his, his grip warm, protective, and eternal.
"I told you on the first day," Vincent whispered as the officiant began to speak, "that you were a queen who had forgotten she owned the castle."
Emily smiled, her heart full to bursting as she looked into the eyes of the man who had rescued her not by taking away her battles, but by showing her she had the strength to win them herself.

"And I told you," Emily whispered back, her voice ringing clear and true across the sunlit garden, "that I was never going to be ordinary again."
With a final, tender kiss sealed beneath the falling petals of white roses and the cheers of everyone they loved, Emily stepped into her happily-ever-after—not as a waitress waiting for someone to love her, but as a woman who had finally learned to love herself, fiercely and completely.
