Chapter 10 - A New Dynasty

Three months later, the sun over Upstate New York painted the rolling hills in vibrant shades of gold and amber as the heavy iron gates of the Cray estate swung open to welcome a fleet of sleek black town cars.
I stood on the expansive stone patio outside the main conservatory, wearing a tailored cream-colored silk blouse and charcoal trousers, holding a sleek digital tablet displaying the estate’s quarterly operational ledger. Everything was running with ruthless, immaculate precision. The catering staff had been retrained, the security protocols were airtight, and Victor Strand was nothing more than a distant, unpleasant memory buried deep in the past.
Footsteps padded softly behind me across the stone patio.
"Mommy! Look! I built a skyscraper!"
I turned around with a bright smile just as three-year-old Marcus barrel-stepped across the patio, proudly holding up a wobbly tower constructed entirely out of expensive imported Italian wine corks.
"That is the most magnificent skyscraper I have ever seen, sweetie," I laughed, kneeling down to scoop him up into my arms. Marcus giggled, throwing his small arms around my neck and planting a sticky, enthusiastic kiss against my cheek.
Footsteps approached from the grand double doors behind us.
Dominic stepped out onto the patio, dressed in a sharp black suit with his silk shirt buttoned comfortably at the collar. The dark ink tattoos along his forearms were partially visible as he crossed his arms, leaning against the stone balustrade with a relaxed, commanding posture that radiated absolute power and peace.
He had fully reclaimed his empire. The Corsican syndicate cell had been dismantled, the internal traitors rooted out, and the tri-state network had collectively learned a very hard lesson about testing the Cray estate. But more importantly, Dominic’s hearing had stabilized entirely—a permanent medical miracle that modern specialists still couldn't explain, and that Dominic kept as a quiet, sacred bond between himself, Marcus, and me.
Dominic walked over, stopping just inches away from us. He reached out, gently smoothing down Marcus’s unruly brown hair before his slate-gray eyes shifted up to meet mine, warm with a deep, unspoken devotion.
"The board meeting in Manhattan is set for tomorrow morning," Dominic said, his gravelly voice smooth and resonant. "Are you ready to present the new logistics expansion, Head of Estate Operations?"
I adjusted Marcus securely on my hip, returning Dominic’s intense, anchoring gaze with a confident, radiant smile of my own.
May you like
"Let them come," I said, leaning in as Dominic wrapped one strong arm around my waist, pulling us both close against his chest as the golden autumn sun bathed the estate in a warm, eternal light. "We're ready for anything."
