Chapter 25 - The Fall of the Old Guard

The color drained entirely from Arthur Pendelton’s face as his trembling fingers opened the leather folder containing the Cayman Island ledger. The numbers printed across those pages weren't just ordinary financial anomalies; they were explicit, undeniable paper trails documenting millions in embezzlement, tax evasion, and illegal kickbacks funneled directly through accounts managed by Arthur and his inner circle.

"This... this is fabricated," Arthur stammered, his haughty composure shattering into a million jagged pieces as he looked wildly around the table for support from the other board members. But the other men were already flipping frantically through their own digital tablets, where my legal team had just transmitted encrypted copies of the federal subpoenas.

"Fabricated by the U.S. Department of Justice, perhaps?" I asked, resting my elbows lightly on the table, my gaze locked onto Arthur with terrifying calm. "Or perhaps you'd prefer to explain to the federal prosecutor handling Grant’s case why your personal signature appears on forty-two unauthorized offshore wire transfers over the last three years?"

Panic rippled through the boardroom. One by one, the powerful, untouchable men who had spent years looking down their noses at me, mocking my quiet demeanor, and treating my daughter as an afterthought, began to shrink in their leather chairs. Their mighty Vance dynasty—built on intimidation, misogyny, and the systematic silencing of women—was crumbling into dust right before their eyes, dismantled not by brute force, but by cold, unyielding truth.

"What... what do you want, Clara?" Arthur whispered, his voice cracking, the arrogance entirely gone, replaced by the abject terror of a man realizing he was about to spend his twilight years in a federal prison cell.

I stood up slowly, leaning over the table so that my face was inches from his. The memory of Grant slapping Lily's hand over two strips of bacon flashed briefly behind my eyes—not with pain anymore, but as pure, crystallized fuel.

"I don't *want* anything from you, Arthur," I said softly, the silence in the room absolute. "I am simply taking back what my daughter and every other victim of your corporate cartel were systematically robbed of."

I turned to my legal counsel. "Have federal marshals escort Mr. Pendelton and his associates off the premises immediately. Lock down all remaining accounts. And prepare the press release announcing the complete restructuring of Vance Industries under new, sole proprietorship."
