Chapter 19 - A LOVE THAT HEALS

Two years later, on a breathtaking sunny afternoon in June, the backyard of my Ridgefield farmhouse was transformed into a paradise of white roses and soft fairy lights.

Soft violin music played as guests gathered on the lawn—Victoria, Marcus, Arthur Vance, my foundation staff, and close friends who had stood by me through my journey.

Inside the house, I stood in front of the full-length mirror, wearing a simple, elegant lace wedding gown that flowed gently to the floor.

Sophie, now eight years old, was adjusting her flower crown in the mirror, while seven-year-old Hope was giggling as she adjusted her tiny pink shoes.

Ethan, now ten, walked into the room wearing a sharp navy suit. He walked up to me, looking at me with proud, handsome eyes.

"You look like a queen, Mom," Ethan said softly.

I knelt down, hugging him tightly. "Thank you, my brave boy. Are you ready?"

"I’m ready," Ethan smiled, offering me his arm. "Caleb is waiting."

We walked out onto the sunlit lawn.

Standing at the end of the flower-draped altar was Caleb Thorne. He was looking at me with tears in his eyes, his smile radiant with pure love and devotion.

Ethan walked me down the aisle, stepping aside to place my hand gently into Caleb’s.

Caleb took my hand, leaning in to whisper, "You are the most beautiful woman in the world, Claire."

"And you are my sanctuary, Caleb," I whispered back.

The justice of the peace spoke words of unity, respect, and enduring love. When it came time for the vows, Caleb looked directly into my eyes.

"Claire," Caleb said, his voice rich with emotion. "I promise to honor your strength, to protect your peace, and to love you and our children with every breath I have. I don't want to rule your world. I just want to love you in it."

Tears of pure joy overflowed down my cheeks as we exchanged rings—simple, elegant gold bands that symbolized freedom, partnership, and absolute truth.

"I now pronounce you husband and wife!"

Caleb pulled me into his arms, kissing me deeply as our family and friends cheered, clapping under the warm sun.
