Chapter 20 - THE SAFE HOUSE SUNRISE

Eighteen months later.

The sun rose over a quiet coastal town in Maine, painting the Atlantic horizon in brilliant shades of amber, gold, and soft pink.

I stood on the wraparound porch of our new home—a modest, beautiful farmhouse overlooking a calm cove, far away from the toxic skyscrapers and flashing cameras of the city.

The front door opened softly, and Emily stepped out onto the porch, holding a cup of steaming coffee in one hand while carrying our daughter, Maya, who was now a healthy, laughing toddler taking her first unsteady steps.

Emily walked over, leaning her head gently against my shoulder as we watched the sunlight dance across the water.

"Good morning, Mr. Vance," she smiled softly, her eyes bright and filled with peace.

"Good morning, Mrs. Vance," I replied, wrapping my arms around both of them, pulling them close against my chest.

The nightmare of that November evening felt like a lifetime ago. The court battles were over, the perpetrators were locked behind bars where they belonged, and our family was safe.

We had lost the family name, the inheritance, and the superficial glamour of a corrupt empire. But in return, we had gained something infinitely more valuable: our lives, our truth, and each other.

The camera had captured a crime, but it had also set us free.
