Chapter 16 - Building Tomorrow

Six months later, Vance-Carter Properties broke ground on its most ambitious urban renewal project yet—a sprawling community park and cultural center in downtown Columbus, named The Evelyn Vance Memorial Plaza.
The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by city officials, local business leaders, and dozens of happy residents.
Standing at the podium in a crisp white blazer, holding the ceremonial gold shovel alongside Uncle Arthur and Daniel, I looked out over the sunlit crowd. Flashbulbs popped, local reporters shouted questions, and television cameras recorded every moment.
This time, the cameras weren't capturing a viral tragedy or a family betrayal. They were capturing a triumph born from resilience.
"When we set out to build this plaza," I spoke into the microphone, my voice clear and confident, echoing across the downtown square, "we didn't just want to create concrete and green spaces. We wanted to build a foundation that withstands storms—a place where families, friends, and communities can gather in safety, mutual respect, and genuine love."

Applause erupted across the plaza, warm and thunderous.
In the front row, Daniel stood clapping, a proud, radiant smile lighting up his face. Chloe stood beside him, wiping a happy tear from her eye.
