Chapter 10 - The Symphony of Hands

A year after the turbulent engagement dinner that had nearly torn their world apart, the Moretti estate hosted a very different kind of gathering.
There were no high-society socialites with cold stares, no intimidating legal sharks, and no forced rules about silence or posture. Instead, the sprawling lawn was filled with laughter, bright colors, and close friends. It was Isabella’s tenth birthday party.
Long tables were set up beneath the autumn trees, laden with food, pastries, and gifts. Children ran across the grass playing games, while music played softly in the background. Several of Isabella’s new school friends—some hearing, some deaf—were signing back and forth with joyous energy, their hands moving in a graceful, expressive dance of communication.
Luca stood near the edge of the patio, leaning against a stone pillar with a cup of coffee in his hand. He wore a simple dark button-down shirt with the sleeves rolled up, looking every bit the proud, devoted father.
Claire walked over, handing him a clipboard with the afternoon's event schedule, though everything was running smoothly. "Looks like the party is a complete success," she noted with a warm smile.
Luca nodded, his eyes following Isabella as she laughed with a group of friends by the garden fountain. Her hands moved effortlessly, telling a story that everyone around her understood, whether through voice or sign.
"She hasn't hidden her hands once today," Luca said softly, a deep sense of peace washing over him.
"She doesn't have to," Claire replied gently. "She knows she belongs here. Exactly as she is."
Just then, Isabella noticed her father standing by the pillar. Breaking away from her friends, she ran across the grass straight toward him.
Luca knelt down, opening his arms.
Isabella stopped right in front of him, her face glowing with happiness. Her hands lifted, moving with absolute confidence and love as she signed: Thank you for always listening to my hands, Daddy.
May you like
Luca smiled, a tear of pure joy slipping down his cheek. He reached out, his fingers answering her with the rhythm they had shared since she was a little girl: Always, Peanut. Your hands are your voice, your heart, and the best part of my world.
Isabella threw her arms around his neck, burying her face in his shoulder as Luca held her tight. Around them, the guests laughed and celebrated, bathed in the golden autumn sunlight. The silence between them was no longer a barrier, but a bridge—a beautiful, unbreakable symphony of love that would echo through their lives forever.
