Chapter 13 - The Collector’s Offer

In early March, Brittany received an unsolicited email that made her heart leap into her throat.
An estate dealer from Boston had seen a post Brittany made two years prior on a high-end antique forum regarding Haviland Limoges, Pattern 1952.
The email read:
Dear Mrs. Keller, I represent a private European collector seeking a complete, pristine 12-person service of the 1952 Limoges pattern (including gravy boats and serving platter). If you happen to know of a full intact set, my client is prepared to offer $55,000 cash immediately.
Fifty-five thousand dollars.
Brittany’s hands shook as she stared at the screen. That money could pay off her mounting credit card debt from holiday hosting, remodel her kitchen, and cement her status among her peers.

That afternoon, while Emily was at track practice, Brittany went upstairs to Emily's room. She stood outside the locked closet door, her breath hitched.
She reached into her pocket and pulled out a heavy pair of bolt cutters she had taken from Kevin's workbench in the garage.
