Chapter 10 - Happily Ever After

One year after the chaos of our wedding day, the sun was setting over the crystal-clear waters of Lake Como, painting the sky in breathtaking shades of amber, violet, and rose gold.
I stood on the private stone balcony of our new villa, wrapped in a soft cashmere shawl, breathing in the crisp, sweet European air.
Behind me, the French doors slid open, and warm, familiar arms wrapped around my waist. Anton rested his chin gently on my shoulder, pressing a soft kiss to my cheek.
"What are you thinking about, my love?" he asked, his voice rich with contentment.
I smiled, turning around in his embrace and wrapping my arms around his neck.
"I was just thinking about how wild life is," I murmured, looking up into his warm, loving eyes. "If someone had told me on our wedding day that we’d end up here, living a peaceful life across the ocean, running our own company without any shadows hanging over us... I wouldn't have believed them."
Anton smiled, his eyes crinkling at the corners as he pulled me closer.
"We survived the worst of it, Clara," he whispered softly. "Because you were smart, because you were strong, and because you refused to let anyone destroy what we built."
"We," I corrected him with a playful smirk, "survived because I knew how to play chess while she was playing checkers."
Anton threw his head back and laughed—a rich, joyful sound that echoed across the quiet lake, completely free of the heavy burdens of his past.
We leaned in and kissed, slow and sweet, under the gathering stars. The nightmare of Doña Carmela’s toxic reign was nothing more than a distant memory. Our empire was built on truth, strength, and an unbreakable bond.
