Chapter 14 - The Final BreakThe confrontation that followed was the loudest, ugliest argument the Columbus house had ever witnessed.

Natalie didn't deny it. Instead, she turned defensive, venomous, and vicious. "If you weren't such a pathetic, low-earning accountant, I wouldn't have had to manage things myself!" she screamed, throwing a crystal vase against the living room wall, where it shattered into a thousand glittering pieces. "You're weak, Jason! Your mother coddled you your whole life, and now you're letting her destroy our marriage!"

"Our marriage was built on status, debt, and greed from day one," Jason answered, his voice remarkably steady as he watched her rage. "There is no marriage left, Natalie. I'm filing for divorce tomorrow morning. And we are selling this house."

Natalie stared at him in absolute shock. For a second, her expression faltered, replaced by genuine terror as she realized she had pushed too far and lost everything. But her pride immediately rushed back in to fill the void.

"Fine!" she screamed, marching up the stairs. "File for divorce! See if I care! I'm packing my things and going to my parents' house tonight. You can rot in this half-empty mortgage all by yourself!"

Within two hours, Natalie’s luxury SUV was packed to the brim. Without even saying goodbye to Sophie, she slammed the front door and sped down the suburban street, leaving Jason standing alone in the echoing, silent hallway.
