Chapter 5 - The Trap Closes

The silence in the executive office became absolute. For three agonizing seconds, Callum stood paralyzed, his eyes darting from Agent Vance to the state troopers, and finally to Paige.

Paige’s composure completely evaporated. The mask of polished corporate elegance shattered instantly. "Callum, tell them!" she shrieked, grabbing his arm. "Tell them you ordered the wire transfers! You said your wife wouldn't find out! You promised me immunity if anything went south!"

Callum violently shoved her away, his face twisting into a mask of pure fury. "Shut your mouth, you stupid cow! You're the one who set up the shell company in the Cayman Islands! You forged my signature on the wire authorizations!"

"You signed every single one of them while high on coke in your penthouse!" Paige screamed back, her voice turning feral. "You told me Marin was getting too close and we needed to drain the accounts before the board meeting!"

Agent Vance smiled faintly, pulling a digital audio recorder from his pocket and pressing stop. "Thank you both for that spontaneous confession. It saves us weeks of voice-stress analysis."

Calluzm lunged forward in a blind rage, aiming a punch at Paige, but the two state troopers moved with lightning speed, tackling him over the leather sofa and slamming steel handcuffs onto his wrists with a sharp, metallic click.

Another trooper secured Paige, reading her Miranda rights as she wept hysterically, makeup streaming down her face.

Marin watched the scene unfold without a single flicker of satisfaction—only a profound, cleansing sense of release. She walked slowly toward Callum as he was being hauled to his feet, his custom navy suit wrinkled and stained.

"You said I was nothing without your name, Callum," Marin said softly, looking him dead in the eye. "Let's see how much your name is worth when you're sitting in a federal penitentiary."

"Marin... please," Callum whispered, his voice cracking with desperate humiliation as the troopers dragged him toward the elevators. "We have a baby... think of our family..."

"You stopped thinking about our family when you pushed me into that pool," she replied steadily.

As the elevator doors closed on Callum and Paige, Agent Vance turned to Marin, handing her a thick manila folder. "The federal prosecutor’s office has already filed emergency injunctions freezing all corporate assets and personal accounts. Under federal whistleblower and spousal asset protection laws, as the primary architectural creditor and co-signer of the original corporate restructuring, you are entitled to receivership of Hargrove Coastal Resorts."

Marin took the folder, feeling the weight of the future in her hands. "Let's save the company," she said. "And then, let's rebuild it right."
