Chapter 15 - The Golden Child Crumbles

Deprived of funds, evicted from the mansion, and facing public disgrace, the toxic bond between Ryan and Linda finally began to splinter.

Back in their small motel room, surrounded by mountain of unpaid legal bills and hotel charges, the arguments began.

"This is all YOUR fault!" Ryan roared at his mother, slamming his fist against the laminate desk. "I had a great life! I had a luxury house, a successful wife who paid for everything, and a respected name! And you insisted on taking the kid's room!"

Linda turned on him like a cornered viper, her eyes flashing with fury. "MY fault?! You spineless fool! You are the one who couldn't keep your wife under control! You promised me I could live in that house forever! You promised me you were the boss of your household!"

"You lied to me about your debts!" Ryan screamed back, throwing a stack of bank statements at her face. "You told me those transfers were for interior design investment! You spent two hundred grand of Sarah's money in Atlantic City!"

"I am your MOTHER!" Linda shrieked, her voice echoing through the thin motel walls. "You owe me everything! I raised you!"

"You ruined me!" Ryan yelled back.

The motel manager knocked sharply on their door ten minutes later, handing them a notice of noise complaint and demanding immediate settlement of their lodging bill.

With his accounts frozen, Ryan was forced to sell his luxury Rolex watch at a local pawn shop for pennies on the dollar just to pay for three more nights in the motel room.

The golden boy of the suburban elite had been reduced to pawnshop sales and cheap motel fights.
