Chapter 6 - The Forensic Audit

Back at *Prescott Tech Solutions*, my legal and financial team was working around the clock.

Marcus laid out a massive financial spread across the conference table. The air smelled of fresh coffee and expensive printer toner.

"Charlotte, you won't believe what else we found," Marcus said, pointing a laser pointer at a complex web of shell companies and international wire transfers.

"Hit me," I said, leaning back in my leather ergonomic chair.

"It wasn't just Evelyn and Howard," Marcus said grimly. "And it wasn't just Brooke. Over the past three years, Brandon systematically funneled nearly four hundred thousand dollars of corporate capital into an offshore account in the Cayman Islands."

My eyes narrowed. "An offshore account? Under whose name?"

"Under a trust named *B&H Holdings*," Marcus explained. "Initials for Brandon and... wait for it... his brother, Derek."

Derek. Brandon’s younger brother, who lived in Los Angeles and fancied himself an aspiring film producer, despite never having produced a single successful YouTube video.

"So Brandon wasn't just supporting his parents," I murmured, the pieces clicking together with terrifying clarity. "He was funding his entire extended family’s parasitic lifestyle using my corporate revenues, while acting like he was a humble office employee earning an honest living."

"Precisely," Marcus said. "Which elevates his legal jeopardy from standard civil embezzlement to federal grand larceny and tax evasion. The IRS and the DOJ are going to have a field day with this. When we hand this dossier over to the federal prosecutor on Monday morning, Brandon isn't just looking at a messy divorce. He’s looking at five to ten years in a federal penitentiary."

I stood up and walked over to the glass wall, looking out over the bustling Miami traffic.

For years, I had blamed myself. I had thought, *Maybe I work too much. Maybe I’m not affectionate enough. Maybe if I just cook more dinners, spend less time on my company, and validate his fragile ego, he’ll be a good husband.*

I had tortured myself with self-doubt while a family of professional moochers treated my life’s work like an endless buffet.

"Let's move forward," I said quietly, my voice ringing with absolute, unshakable resolve. "Hand the dossier to the federal prosecutors. Freeze all remaining assets linked to Derek and Evelyn. And make sure the court filing for the divorce includes a full asset forfeiture request. I want every single cent they stole returned to the corporate treasury, down to the last penny."

"Consider it done," Marcus smiled. "And Charlotte?"

"Yes?"

"You handled this like an absolute general. I’m proud of you."

"Save the praise for the courtroom, Marcus," I replied with a thin smile. "We’re just getting started."
