Chapter 18 - The Geneva Confrontation

The crisp alpine air of Geneva bit sharply as Salvatore Moretti’s motorcade pulled up in front of an austere, gray-stone corporate building overlooking Lake Geneva. The discreet brass plaque by the heavy oak doors bore a simple, elegant inscription: *Vanguard Trust & Fiduciary Geneva.*
Inside, the interior was an exercise in understated Swiss luxury—polished marble floors, minimalist leather furniture, and walls adorned with priceless European art.
At the end of a long, vaulted hallway, inside a sprawling corner office overlooking the mist-covered lake, sat Viktor Sterling—Lucinda’s estranged uncle and a legendary figure in European private banking who had operated in the shadows for decades.
The heavy oak doors swung open without a knock.
Viktor didn't look up from his mahogany desk immediately. He continued signing documents with a gold-plated fountain pen, speaking in a smooth, unbothered French-accented English. "Mr. Moretti. I wondered when your aggressive American methods would track this far across the Atlantic."
Salvatore strode into the room, his imposing frame casting a long shadow across the pristine carpet. He didn't sit down. He simply placed both hands flat on Viktor’s desk, leaning forward until their faces were inches apart.
"You funded Lucinda's attack on my daughter," Salvatore stated, not as an accusation, but as an absolute, undeniable fact.
Viktor finally lowered his pen, leaning back in his leather executive chair with a thin, condescending smile. "Lucinda is a foolish, impulsive girl who let her personal grudges cloud her judgment. Any funds sent to her were routine family distributions. You cannot prove a direct conspiracy, Mr. Moretti. Swiss banking secrecy laws are absolute."
"Secrecy laws protect banks, Viktor. They don't protect criminals engaging in industrial espionage and psychological warfare against a minor," Salvatore replied, his voice dangerously calm.
With a flick of his wrist, Salvatore tossed the encrypted flash drive onto the desk.
"My cyber-forensic team traced the master key breach straight to your Zurich server cluster. Furthermore, federal prosecutors in New York have already issued international arrest warrants for corporate conspiracy. By tomorrow morning, the Swiss banking commission will freeze every single asset under Vanguard Trust’s management."
Viktor’s smug expression finally flickered, a sudden drop of sweat appearing on his temple. "You wouldn't dare. A move like that would collapse half the private banking sector in Geneva."

"Try me," Salvatore whispered, his dark eyes burning with lethal intensity. "You touched my daughter. For that, I will tear your entire financial empire down to the bare stone, and I will watch from the ruins while you rot in a federal cage."
